Illinois Commercial Auto policies are not treated exactly the same as ordinary personal auto policies for every statutory consumer-protection provision.

Illinois law nevertheless requires insurance policies subject to applicable provisions of the Illinois Insurance Code to contain cancellation provisions.

For certain policies subject to 215 ILCS 5/143.16, current Illinois law generally requires:

At least 30 days' notice

during the first 60 days of coverage

At least 60 days' notice

after coverage has been effective 61 days or more

At least 10 days' notice

when cancellation is for nonpayment of premium.

The specific statutory category and policy terms matter.
