These are only legal minimums.
Higher liability limits may provide substantially better financial protection.

Illinois Electronically Verifies Motorcycle Insurance
Motorcycles are included in Illinois' Electronic Liability Insurance Verification program.
If insurance cannot be verified, the registration may ultimately be suspended.

Motorcycle Helmets in Illinois
Illinois currently does not require motorcycle riders to wear a helmet.
However, Illinois does require qualifying eye protection.
The operator and passenger must generally be protected by:
- Glasses
- Goggles
- Transparent shield
Contact lenses alone do not satisfy the statutory eye-protection requirement.
